Coverage Reference Table

Coverage rates vary by material type. Rough, porous materials soak up slightly more adhesive than smooth ones.

Material Coverage / Gallon Small Bed (150 sq ft) Large Bed (600 sq ft)
Mulch / Bark 193 sq ft 1 gallon 3 gallons
Pine Straw 150 sq ft 1 gallon 4 gallons
Rubber Mulch 193 sq ft 1 gallon 3 gallons
Pea Gravel 100 sq ft 2 gallons 6 gallons
Decomposed Granite 150 sq ft 1 gallon 4 gallons
River Rock / Flagstone 100 sq ft 2 gallons 6 gallons
Pro tip: For slopes, high-traffic areas, or loose materials like pea gravel, apply two light coats rather than one heavy coat. This uses about 25% more product but dramatically improves hold. Allow 2–4 hours between coats.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the calculator for irregularly shaped beds?

Yes. For irregular shapes, break the area into rough rectangles and calculate each section separately, then add the totals. Or estimate your total area and enter it directly in the "Total Area" field.

Should I buy extra for touch-ups?

If your beds include slopes, high-traffic paths, or areas exposed to heavy wind, add 10–20% to your calculated amount. EcoLock HD stores well in a cool, dry place for up to 2 years unopened.

What if I have leftover product?

Seal the jug tightly and store it out of direct sunlight. Use it for touch-ups after storms, top-dressing fresh mulch, or treating new beds. It stays effective for up to 2 years when stored properly.
